Background

In 2025, we sponsored several events during ETHDenver, only to realize that not all event sponsorship has the same effect, and honestly, the overall ROI to the protocol turned out to be pretty low. One of the events had a strong networking effect, though, and drove real conversions for the protocol. Yet we couldn't run the full campaign around the event (treasure hunt) we had planned, since Carrot Castle evolved in its own way. Now, a year later, we still have the budget in their Multisig wallet, which has made us strategize on how best to use those funds, and we believe the community deserves them!

The founder of Carrot Castle is also the founder of Incented. Previously, we have been working closely with Charmverse, but this platform might bring greater decentralization to how content contributions are structured and distributed. Here is a rough outline of how a 10-program campaign for social media content contributions could look, while also letting funds flow back into our community for those actively promoting the protocol.

Format & Timeframe

  • 10 themed content programs (each program has its own theme and requirements).  If you want to dig deeper into terminology, follow the Program Design Guide here.
  • Every program runs for 2-4 weeks total
  • Run as submissions on Incented, where creators submit specific content according to the program's theme
  • Strong focus on TikTok short-form videos and carousel posts

Program Period Breakdown

We suggest each program happens in the timeframe of 4 weeks, with the following distinct phases:

  • Submission Period: Duration 1-2 weeks (Creators submit content; no voting yet) - where we will do at the beginning of each new program, a public office hours so creators can join and ask their questions.
  • Voting Period: 1 week (Community evaluates and stakes on submissions)
  • Results: 1 week (Settlement, and next program launch)

Note: Submission and voting periods do not overlap. This ensures all submissions are evaluated fairly on an equal footing.

Rewards: Split Proportional Model

The current funds are still in ETH. We suggest swapping them to USDC at a convenient time and paying out creators per program in a stablecoin.

Why Split Proportional?

Incented's Split Proportional reward model distributes the reward pool proportionally based on voting outcomes. This approach is ideal for creative content programs because:

  • Fairer distribution: Rewards scale with community support
  • Encourages participation: Every quality submission earns something, not just top 3-4
  • Reduces gaming: No cliff between "Tier 1" and "Tier 2" to exploit
  • Flexible: Works whether you get 5 submissions or 50

Suggested Budget Per Program

We are suggesting the following reward pools/per program:

  • Creators Rewards Pool: $200 USDC
  • Voting Rewards Pool: 30,000 UP tokens

In return, this means the full program would require the following funds:

  • Creator rewards: ~$2,000 USDC
  • Voting rewards: ~300,000 UP tokens (transferred with this proposal to Sven for management: badmonky.eth / 0x0c687a27410E8a655Bf31befc4c88237A60B1D3D)
  • With the budget from the former Carrot Castle, we should be able to cover most of that, plus some additional funds from our treasury.

Potentially, this program could "replace" influencer marketing and raise our own stack of content creators, which feels efficient and nice at the same time.

Voting Reward Pool (UP Token)

Any UP token holder will be eligible to vote. To better understand how voting works on Incented, please review How Voting Works for the full mechanics.

To incentivize thoughtful community participation in evaluating submissions, each program includes a Voting Reward Pool funded with UP tokens. It improves signal quality by allowing voters who back winning submissions to earn more. At the same time, it is a novel way for us to distribute UP tokens among the participating community members. This is the "carrot" in Incented's Carrot and Stick mechanism.

Rights & Reuse

As with any content, it is important to get confirmation on the usage across social media. Creators will be asked to submit their social media handles so we can tag them in each post. This sweetens the deal, as we increase their visibility while they support us with content creation.

Rules:

  • Unlock Protocol DAO can reuse winning and shortlisted content across socials, newsletter, docs, and educational materials
  • Credit and handle tagging are required on all reuse
  • Creators retain rights to repost content on their own accounts
  • Coordination of the posting strategy will be in collaboration with Ceci Sakura, our Marketing & Communications Steward.

Content Guardrails (excluded content types):

  • No NSFW, hate, harassment, or targeted personal attacks
  • No token price speculation
  • Light, humorous "protocol culture" is welcome but must stay respectful and brand-aligned

10-Program Themed Arc

Each program builds on the previous one in terms of knowledge and creativity. This is positioned almost as a creator cohort, where participants can not only earn rewards but also level up their skills on Unlock and content creation.

Program 1: "What is Unlock?"

Goal: Foundational awareness and simple explanations.

Prompt: Make a 15-40s TikTok/Short explaining Unlock to a specific audience (artists, podcasters, event hosts, newsletter writers, etc.) in your own style. Use analogies, skits, memes, or voiceovers to make "membership via smart contracts" feel obvious and friendly.

Deliverables: TikTok Short Video

Reward Pool: $200 USDC | Voting Pool: 30,000 UP

Program 2: "Memberships in the Wild"

Goal: Show real or hypothetical membership use cases and onboard more individual creators.

Prompt: Show how someone like Evan Mann / a similar creator could use Unlock memberships and tiers (e.g., scholarships, early access, behind-the-scenes). Storyboard-style, POV "day in the life," or fake ad format: "If you run X, here's how memberships with Unlock change your income."

Program 3: "Token-gated Everything"

Goal: Push token-gated content beyond the obvious.

Prompt: Demonstrate or explain a token-gated experience powered by Unlock: gated videos, private podcast feeds, Discord, PDFs, community spaces, etc. Can be an educational explainer or a mock "unlock to continue" experience.

Deliverables: TikTok Short Video

Reward Pool: $200 USDC | Voting Pool: 30,000 UP

Program 4: "Onchain Events & Tickets"

Goal: Highlight event ticketing and in-person/online events with Unlock.

Prompt: Show how someone can run an event (IRL or online) with Unlock tickets, including at least: minting a ticket, checking in, and a simple perk (recording, POAP-style follow-up, or token-gated recap). Format ideas: mock IRL vlog, skit of a chaotic event vs an onchain-tickets event, or step-by-step explainer.

Program 5: "Creator Income Upgrade"

Goal: Drive adoption by showing income flows.

Prompt: Turn a real or hypothetical creator setup (e.g., Twitch streamer, Substack, educator, fashion brand) into an "Unlock-powered" income model. Show how revenue flows: memberships, one-off token-gated drops, or bundle access.

Deliverables: TikTok Short Video

Program 6: "Beyond the Obvious"

Goal: Inspire creative and unexpected use cases.

Prompt: Invent an unusual Unlock use case: launching a micro product line with Unlock-gated purchasing on your own website; access to game mods, AI prompts, fashion blueprints, character skins; "pay once, unlock across worlds" membership concepts. Present it like a pitch trailer or fake ad.

Program 7: "For Devs by Creators"

Goal: Bridge creators and devs, showing integration opportunities without needing to code on camera.

Prompt: Make a creator-friendly explainer of how a dev could integrate Unlock into an app/game/site: e.g., "If you're a dev, here's a 3-step way to add Unlock memberships to your app." You can use diagrams, screen recordings, or sketches; keep language non-jargony but precise.

Program 8: "Communities & Organizers"

Goal: Show Unlock as infrastructure for broader communities and grassroots organizers.

Prompt: Explain or showcase a concept for a community using Unlock (DAO, city club, study group, cohort course, IRL meetup series). Show how members join, what they unlock, and how the community benefits from onchain memberships.

Deliverables: TikTok Short Video

Program 9: "Your Unlock Journey"

Goal: Turn existing or experimental setups into mini case studies.

Prompt: Share your own journey: either a real experiment you ran with Unlock (locks, tickets, memberships) or a fictionalized "before vs after Unlock" story. Include at least one metric or concrete outcome (e.g., members, tickets, engagement, or qualitative feedback).

Program 10: "Unlock Power Move"

Goal: End with ambitious visions and advanced patterns.

Prompt: Pitch a "power user" Unlock concept: multi-tier ecosystems, cross-platform memberships, interoperable tickets, or collaborations between multiple creators/communities. Frame it like a visionary trailer: "Here's how creators could own their ecosystem with Unlock over the next 5 years."

KPIs To Track

The following KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) are measurable for us and can indicate the success of each program:

  • Submissions count: Total submissions across all 10 programs
  • Voter participation: Number of unique UP holders who voted
  • New locks/tickets created: After content publication (These are always a bit hard to prove, but we already have a working Google Analytics tool on the website and could compare dates and access origin.)
  • Combined views/engagement: For submitted TikToks/Shorts 
  • Newsletter/community signups: Attributable to campaign (via links/UTMs)
