Proposal

TL,DR

Lil ⌐◨-◨ Wash is a for profit laundromat designed to deliver essential daily laundry services while creating a self-sustaining funding engine for public goods and humanitarian initiatives. Fully branded around the Lil ⌐◨-◨ Nouns identity, the project serves as both a real-world utility hub and a tangible onboarding point into the Lil Nouns ecosystem.

Lil ⌐◨-◨ Wash is structured to:

  1. Transition into a community-first profit allocation model
  2. Reinvest a significant share of profits into visible, Lil-branded public services

This proposal focuses on a single pilot location, intentionally starting small to prove operational sustainability, profitability and replicability before expansion.

1. Problem & Opportunity

Market Reality

  • Laundry is a recurring need
  • Urban Nigerian households often lack:
    • Stable electricity
    • In-home washing machines

Location Advantage

  • Laundromats perform best near residential area, not office districts
  • Proximity to homes increases:
    • Daily usage
    • Repeat customers
    • Word-of-mouth growth

Despite high demand, modern self-service laundromats remain under-penetrated in most Nigerian cities, presenting a strong opportunity for a branded, professionally run operation.

2. Business Concept

Lil ⌐◨-◨ Wash operates a hybrid laundromat model:

  • Self-Service Wash (pay-per-load)
  • Assisted / Drop-Off Wash & Fold (premium convenience service)
  • (Dryer) Drying of cloth optional

The space will be visually branded with Lil ⌐◨-◨ Nouns traits, animations, and community storytelling, making it both functional and culturally distinctive.

Lil Nouner Utility:

  • First wash free every month for Lil Nouner NFT holders
  • Ongoing discounts and priority access
  • On-chain/off-chain narrative bridge
  • Free wifi

3. Decentralized Franchise Vision

Lil ⌐◨-◨ Wash is designed as a replicable system, not a single storefront.

The pilot will produce:

  • Standardized equipment specs
  • Cost benchmarks
  • Operating playbooks
  • Brand guidelines
  • Public-goods allocation framework

Future operators in other regions can replicate the model under a Lil ⌐◨-◨ Wash identity, allowing local adaptation while maintaining brand and mission consistency.

4. Equipment & Setup Cost

A. Core Laundry Equipment

  • 6 × Hisense 10.5kg inverter washing machines with 6kg dryer + transportation + installation → $3,000

Note: These units include spin-dry capability, eliminating the need for separate dryers.

B. Power & Utilities (Critical Infrastructure)

Given Nigeria’s unreliable grid, an inverter-first strategy is adopted.

The operator (Houseofdrey) will receive $1,500 total to cover a six-month launch period. This support is intended solely to enable full-time dedication to the successful setup and early operation of the laundromat.

  • During this Six-month period, the operator will be responsible for

Net operating surplus from Month 7 onward is allocated as follows:

45% → Public Goods Community infrastructure and humanitarian use (water access, healthcare support, public lighting, and Lil Nouns–branded installations).

25% → Operator (Houseofdrey) Ongoing operational responsibility and accountability.

  • Internet, water, consumables, maintenance → $80
  • Power upkeep & minor backup: → $50

Total Monthly Fixed Costs: → $405

7. Revenue Scenario

Assumptions

  • Number of machines: 6

  • Average price per wash (blended self-service & drop-off): $2.79

  • Operating days: 30 days/month

  • Loads counted across all machines, not per machine

    Conservative Scenario

  • Early-stage adoption

12 loads/day total (2 loads per machine/day)

Monthly revenue: 12 × $2.79 × 30 = ~$1,003/month

Base / Expected Scenario

  • Stable neighborhood usage
  • 18 loads/day total (3 loads per machine/day)

Monthly revenue 18 × $2.79 × 30 = ~$1,504/month

Strong Utilization Scenario

High residential demand + drop-off growth

24 loads/day total (4 loads per machine/day)

Monthly revenue 24 × $2.79 × 30 = ~$2,006/month

Public Goods Strategy
