Protocol
Number Group played a pivotal role in crafting the HAI protocol, alongside Reflexer DAO team, Spankchain, and the Defi Wonderland team, by leading branding, marketing, go-to-market strategy, UX/UI design, and subgraph development. We are excited for HAI's launch, committed to empowering users with greater freedom and flexibility for their assets on Optimism.

Please share your stance on overall goals for the DAO:
The goal for HAI DAO should be running an efficient and decentralized stablecoin protocol. Some of the most important metrics we should look at are:
- Utilization of our protocol in the Optimism ecosystem (adoption from other protocols)
- # of unique users
- HAI volume and liquidity
- Collateralization ratio for new collateral types being added
- Memorable and Novel IRL events
We also understand that if people are not properly incentivized to care or work on HAI then the protocol will die from lack of contributors / contribution. Ultimately, we would support correctly funding and incentivizing qualified individuals or groups to contribute to the HAI protocol.
Please share your stance on issues that were raised previously, in other communities, as described below:
Sample Voting Issue 1:
A proposal to add USDC as an additional collateral available to the HAI DAO community has been brought before the DAO. This proposal has passed the temperature check “informal proposal” stage and has been submitted onchain for a DAO vote.
This collateral and all collaterals to be added to the HAI protocol must satisfy certain requirements of decentralization and meet certain thresholds of censorship-resistance as defined by the HAI DAO UNA Charter.
How would you vote for issue 1 and why? (For or Against)
- Issue 1: Vote For Issue 1
Why to 'Vote For' to the Issue 1: Circle and USDC are recognized for their significant contributions and integrations within the cryptocurrency ecosystem. This token is highly favored among defi protocols due to its robust measures against illicit finance. Despite USDC's backing by the US dollar and its centralized management, which encompasses on-chain censorship mechanisms, it's important to acknowledge the extensive user base of USDC. Incorporating USDC into the HAI protocol would significantly enhance liquidity by attracting this vast pool of users.
AMENDMENT TO PROPOSAL: We recommend lowering the debt limit so that USDC is one of the lower debt limit collaterals on the HAI protocol. This amendment would allow USDC users to participate in HAI protocol but they would be limited compared to other collateral choices (thus hoping to incentivize a switch to another collateral type).

Sample Voting Issue 2:
Issue Overview: One of the largest lending platforms issues a stablecoin that is backed by its own governance token. The lending platform wants to run a large incentives campaign for HAI, and for HAI to list its stablecoin as collateral. Adding this stable as an additional collateral would provide an immediate and substantial liquidity boost to the protocol, but some members of the DAO have raised concerns over the sustainability and ethics of accepting the collateral.
How would you vote for issue 2 and why? (For or Against)
- Issue 2: Vote For Issue 2
Why to 'Vote For' to the Issue 2: Adding the stable coin as collateral promises substantial liquidity enhancement and diversification for our platform, attracting a wider user base. Addressing concerns regarding sustainability and ethics, we advocate for a high collateralization factor. This measure ensures loans are well over-collateralized, mitigating risks associated with volatility and demonstrating our commitment to a stable and secure lending environment. It reflects our dedication to ethical practices by safeguarding our community's interests and maintaining platform integrity.
AMENDMENT TO PROPOSAL: In light of the discussions around risk and sustainability, we recommend instituting a high collateralization factor for this stable coin. This amendment aims to balance the immediate benefits of liquidity enhancement with prudent risk management, ensuring minimal impact from price fluctuations and maintaining the HAI protocol health.
How would you approach the tradeoff between centralization of authority and the ability to get things done?
- We wholeheartedly agree that people will take the path of least resistance when it comes to work or governance. The path to delegation of voting power puts relevant groups and individuals as point people for governance decisions.
