Summary

  • The chronic structure of the distribution/sales system in the agricultural and forestry industry carries problems such as high commissions, difficulties in channel expansion, and inaccessibility of information. Current major suppliers, such as large seedling businesses and tree farmers, and main consumers such as government agencies and landscaping companies, also carry out transactions only through limited contacts and web pages. Ultimately, the current system is difficult to determine the averages of products and establish reasonable price standards because it's difficult to easily obtain market information. Also, whenever new demand arises, consumers and suppliers cannot be smoothly matched, and there's a possibility of adverse selection. Starting to solve the system problem by creating a platform that illustrates the accurate annual production volume, expected production volume, and consumption volume by region in a way that everyone can easily access and reduce information access costs would be a starting point. Our AGRI team was created to build a sustainable distribution/sales structure in the agricultural and forestry industry, where production increases due to technology but demand decreases due to population decline. The current forestry industry has a closed market structure due to low accessibility of information. It is also important for government agencies to accurately grasp information from the perspective of forest management, and they should be able to obtain data through a consumer-demand-centered distribution platform.
